About Nate

I've worked in Autodesk Geospatial Product Support since October 2007, where I focus on Map 3D, MapGuide Enterprise, and Raster Design.  Prior to that, I was at the nonprofit Winrock International, doing aerial photography and GIS analysis in their Ecosystem Services group.   I would rent a small plane (usually Cessna 206s), take off the rear doors, hang a camera out, and go on my way, collecting high resolution and multispectral images. We mostly worked in tropical forests, so I got to spend a lot time with pilots at remote airstrips waiting for the clouds to go away so we could work. I now live in Lowell, Massachusetts (motto: "Art is the handmaid of human good", and work from the Manchester, New Hampshire office.

I've always been interested in geography, and took part in the National Geographic Geography Bees in middle school, moving on to a Bachelors in Geography from Macalester College and eventually a Masters in Geographic Information Sciences for Development and Environment from Clark University.

I'm also a certified GISP, and enjoy trying out new open source GIS tools and online mapping APIs. That leaves me some free time to spend with my family, and to make pie, beer, and bread.
